History of the estate<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We are currently the 4th and the 5th generation working and managing in the Ch\u00e2teau de Passavant. Throught the generations the company evolved The history starts with Jules Falloux in 1900 who bought the Ch\u00e2teau de Passavant with the money earned, with an activity of tearing out and planting vines during the phylloxera crisis. He did that with his two brothers in a big part of the Anjou and Saumur vineyard. He married Marie Derouet who had vines in the village and started a viticultural activity in the castle.<\/p>\n

Then their son Jean took the company and married Marie Bouyer. he developped the company and took a part in the creation of the “Confr\u00e9rie des Fins Gousiers d’Anjou” (in 1952) to promote the Cabernet d’Anjou in the country.<\/p>\n

Their daughter No\u00eblle Falloux and her husband, took the company in 1965 and built the current winery in 1975 The production site changed (from the castle to the winery) and the production evolved. No\u00eblle and Jean vinified dry wines, red and white, to the restauration. The vineyard increased from 20 hectares to 40 hectares. No\u00eblle and Jean worked with professional customers and developed tight partnerships with them. We still keep and maintain some of these partenership currently.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We took back the company when No\u00eblle and Jean retired, with Fran\u00e7ois David (Claire’s brother). The vineyard surface increased to 65 hectares in 1996 We decided to convert the vineyard in organic production in 1998 and were certified in 2001. In the idea to convert the production in biodynamie we reduced the vineyard, in 2005, to 55 hectares. In 2007 we started the transition and were certified in biodynamie in 2011.<\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7ois David quit in 2013 and Lucie Chen\u00e9 replaced him. 2021 enlargment of the estate by buying 15 hectares of pastures whose a part is classified in DOC. Start of a breeding activity with a herd of 52 ewes.<\/p>\n

We keep developing the company, enriching the range of products and projecting us to the future. Today we are very concerned with eco-pasture and agroforestry to answer to our problematics while keeping our consistency and our production philosophy.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
